About Alec
Alec Kron Templeton is a licensed architect and design consultant with over 16 years of professional experience across a variety of project types and firm settings. After growing up along the Severn River in the Annapolis, Maryland area, Alec received his Bachelor of Arts in Architecture, summa cum laude, from the University of Pennsylvania in 2003. Moving to Boston, he received a Master in Architecture from the Harvard University Graduate School of Design in 2007. Continuing to work professionally in the Boston area for 7 years at internationally recognized firms, including Machado Silvetti, Perkins & Will and Brian Healy Architects, Alec actively led design for a number of institutional, higher education and athletic projects.
Moving to Pittsburgh in 2014, Alec was a Senior Associate and Senior Design Architect at AE7 from 2014 through 2022 with a focus on developer driven mixed-use developments. With experience across all phases of project development, he has a dedicated focus and specialty in business development, project acquisition, client engagement, relationship management, programming, strategy and visioning, concept and design development, 3D modeling, presentations and graphic design/layout. Additionally, Alec has a sincere interest in designing medical clinic settings, particularly in the field of dermatology. Whether small or large in scale, Alec is passionate about design thinking as a thoughtful and iterative approach to strategy and problem-solving to create intimate and welcoming spaces. His motivated, detail-oriented and outgoing personality bring energy and design creativity to every project he engages. Alec is a licensed architect in the states of Pennyslvania and Massachusetts and a LEED accredited professional.
Since 2019, Alec has been an integral partner in the development, expansion and operation of the private medical practice, Pittsburgh Skin Dermatology & Mohs Surgery founded with his wife, Dr. Nicole Vélez, with locations in Shadyside and Cranberry Township.
In 2024, Alec started Aktelier LLC, to provide thoughtful architectural and design consulting services for all scales and types of projects. Dedicated to each and every project, his creative and personable nature are instrumental in bringing your vision to reality. Residing in the Shadyside neighborhood of Pittsburgh with his wife and three children, Alec is proud to call Pittsburgh home and looks forward to meeting you.
