REED DISTRICT MASTER PLAN
Nashville, TN
Architecture, Master Planning & Pre-Development | Mixed-Use Development
2019 - Competition
Competition proposal for Hines Development to create a new 12-acre vibrant urban community in the heart of Nashville, where healthy living, healthy working, southern hospitality and entertainment with a diverse range dining and retail experiences come together as the Reed District. The repositioning of the Reed site, from multi-acre car dealership and a former Coca Cola bottling plant, with a carefully considered mixed and adaptive re-use development with over 2 million square feet of space, will create a keystone district between downtown and the West End/Vanderbilt University that will not be just a space between neighborhoods, but a new instantly identifiable community and destination.
The existing site will be strategically re-linked back into Midtown with urban streetscape, corner café, sidewalk storefronts, and open spaces. These links may connect or separate from the existing urban street grid to activate and enhance the district experience. This approach will encourage a walkable community, access to public transportation while creating a flexible framework for future development.
