Situated along the Emirate of Abu Dhabi’s eastern border with Oman, the Al Ain Oasis is one of the primary sources of freshwater springs in the region. The cultural master plan was developed with the goal to both preserve the Al Ain Oasis and assist the process of a UNESCO World Heritage listing of cultural sites across Al Ain. Several cultural venues and public spaces were developed within and outside the Oasis to help create a more integrated network with more visual and physical harmony between the city of Al Ain and the Oasis. UNESCO inscription for the cultural sites of Al Ain was designated in 2011.
